Dog Days

Dog days of summer

are here at last

with all the heat

and solar blast

Sun burning down

upon us all

Baking, burning

tanning deep

sweltering heat

drying crisp

Turning from day

to humid night

No escaping

heats keen sight

On and on

it seems to go

Till we beg

for falls relief

Working Class White Boys

When's the last time you studied the skin of White men

who make their livin' workin' in the sun?

A wrong kind of red rides on 'em

with rivulets of raw white wrapped 'tween wrinkles

Skin so dry it's patient

for pock marks to pop up full blown tumors

A low grade leather's what they look like

leaves of lifeless flesh fall from them

I would love to be a jumper

Strong armed hands of shirtless Latin men

Bathing me in cool water

After a hard day's work

I wish that you

would stick to

what I imagine

you are

instead of stubbornly

remaining a mystery.

(Laura Mauler)

------------------------------

I never thought it would be this way

I love you more then words can say

In my eyes you are to perfection

In your eyes i see the reflection

Of a love that's true

A love of hopes and dreams

COME TRUE!!

WATCHING THE DAY WAKE UP

UNDER THE LEFTOVER EVENING SKY

BIRDS FLYING OVER THE SMILING SURF

DOLPHINS SWIMMING CLOSE BY

WATCHING THE SURF SMILE UP

CRASHING DOWN AS IT MEETS THE SAND

LISTENING TO THE SOUND NOTES IN MUSIC

LIKE A SYMPHONY'S EVER SO GRAND

Seaside Reverie

She missed him most at the shore.

How like the sea

was their passion.

Her tide, too, had crashed in waves

...but waves of thunderous heartbeats,

uncontrollable as an undertow,

powerless in its grip.

Each crest higher than the last,

building to a final peak...

then slowly down again.

Undulating currents

coaxing, teasing her body

home again.

Waves of passion spent,

her low tide shadows

not on sand

but here...

inside a memory.

--------------------------------------

Magic Lost

I want that night and that feeling back.

I yearn for his touch, I hunger for the smell of him.

I can almost hear the music of that night.

I can almost feel the warmth of his body next to mine.

I want him so much it hurts.

I long for him.

I yearn for him.

our baby would've been born this month

our beautiful baby with your nose and my eyes

and we would've loved that accident more than life

I HAD A CAT I NAMED HIM PAT

BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT CAT

RAN AND RAN AWAY,

ALL I KNOW I LEARNED FROM HIM

HE WAS SO CLOSED TO ME

BUT ONE DAY I WHEN WALKING

AND STUMBLED TO A BRIDGE

AND UNDER I FOUND HIM

BUT HE WASN'T BY HIS LONESOME

HE HAD 3 OTHERS

THAT'S WHY I CALLED HIM LIZA

AND THEN WE ALL WENT WALKING

AND NONE OF US WERE LONESOME!

SOMEDAY

Someday,

Forever will be,

Mine to cherish,

A love for me.

Someday a wish,

I made many times before,

Will come true and bring to me,

Someone I adore.

Someday I suppose,

All the stars will fall,

And someday true love,

Will come to us all.

Everyday it hurts

everyday i cry

there is no point

no reason to try

It must be let out

it must be released

or my heart, my soul

will be deceased

But without my suffering

without my pain

i will be nothing

just a link in the chain

All that i ask

is to be me

i just want to be happy

i just want to be free

----------------------

the single rose

i held the single rose

on you my eyes were set

i smelled the single rose

and remembered when we met

i gripped the single rose

i felt my heart beat in my chest

i glanced at the single rose

is this for the best?

i touched the single rose

tears filled in my eyes

i dropped the single rose

why was this such a surprise?

i looked down at the single rose

as i began to cry

i picked up the single rose

why did you have to die?

---------------------------------

the goodbye

black colors everywhere

tears in everyone's eyes

all the feelings that they share

this was such a sad surprise

everyone looked into the past

wondering why they didn't know

knowing the goodbye was their last

and then you had to go

peoples minds are all frozen

is this a big lie?

why is my heart broken?

why did you have to die?

--------------------------------

Wish it Was Just a Dream

Between these friends

Or what they call themselves

Act like a saint

But you seem more from hell

Be faithful now

To the one to whom you love

And be loyal

To what your friendship was

Look in front of you

See what you have right then

Open your eyes

Or be not forgiven

-----------------------------------

ONE NIGHT STAND

I know with time,

I might forget.

For you are a secret,

that has to be kept.

Knowing the romance,

Was wonderful that night.

Now it has to be,

Out of mind-out of sight.

Now I have returned back to my life,

Back to my sacred home.

Realizing that my only memories,

Could never be told, not even to the unknown.

--------------------------------------------

SURRENDER

Barren is the stone which the grass mock

Enabled only by its steadfastness

And loyalty to the ground

Feelings cannot be seen on its visage

But is in misery in its heavy heart

It surrenders to the mood of nature

However it aspires

For it to be proud of itself

It is restricted by its degree

It accepts its wretched gift

And is thankful for it

Humble it truly is

Forever it shall remain

--OF DREAMS--

fear and question--distant, dim

I walk alone in an empty orchard

the shadows hang down on me

I'm finally alone could this be

I am blind and have no family

but there is hope, there is light

I no longer need to resist, or fight

I have Gods love

He has given me sight.

```````````BRAIDED DREAMS``````````
Mary Ellen
Twisted, plaited, reason not,
Intertwined unconscious thought.
Forgotten faces, mirrored eyes,
Old man whimpers, infant cries.
In the night the darkness follows,
Everything the daylight swallows.
Braided dreams tied not with bows,
Kept intact by sleep's repose.
------------------------------------------
UNTITLED
Cruel cold one.
With your piercing tongue you have once more wrest my fragile heart.
You say I care not for you.
Such foolish, hateful words.
How can I make you see what only a heart can feel?
I fear to tell you how much I care.
For I am sure your laughter would take all life from my eyes.
Why can't you look upon them and read my soul?
Come see.
Gaze deep.
Like a book I lie open before you.
EBONY
Bleak night;
The moon is all alone
Sitting so small as a Timid child,
Among the shaded clouds,
Wedged between Dusk and Dawn
(Just like me)
To live for a few hours,
Free from spying eyes;
To drink heartily, solemnly of
The heavy blackness
That now enfolds me,
Tenderly envelops me into
Nothing.
No real Reality;
Just oblivious Ebony.
IN THE FIELD
In the field where I died,
The night released her tears.
In the ground where I rot,
The worms come to play.
In the city where I lived,
The people take no notice.
In the home where I slept,
The silence is overwhelming.
In the room where I thought,
The spiders set to work.
In the field where I died,
The night released her tears.
--------------------------------
I have seen the brown and white world from above.
I do not know what to think of trees once green,
Of grasses brown and of sun not seen.
I am not quite sure about this snow,
Of frozen ponds, and fireplace glow.
You say that my blue feathers remind you of spring.
That the world will be reborn,
To the green warm days of my birth last year.
Tell me of hope.
Say again that brown, gray days are numbered.
That this is right,
Because it seems so wrong.
-----------------------------------------------
i have written so much
and so much has changed
And only from one moment...have i had another
when i turned around,
he had gone
And i regret not shaking his hand and knowing his name.
---------------------------------------------------
i sit here at this bench
and i could not be more alone
while content...
having people walk by and pass me
with just one that stayed a moment by
never knowing he'd be the one
to send my pen in hand to fly.
-------------------------------------
...and i am impressed and inspired
just by the nothingness about him
Empty confrontation,
yet a memory i would not dispense.
---------------------------------------------------------
Roses black......
loosing lack......
of trust.
------------
Falling and lost,
killing thought's,
nothing is coming to mind....
my love is lost,
I didn't even have time,
WHY?
WHY MUST WE ENCOUNTER
WHAT WE MUST?
ARE WE ALREADY NOT
SLAVES OF OUR OWN DESTINY?
WE CAN'T CHANGE WHAT WE MUST
SO WHY MUST WE TRY
IF NOT TO SATISFY OURSELVES
THEN WHOM..............
PRISONERS OF OUR OWN THOUGHTS
CAN DESTROY THE WEAK OF MIND
BUT BUILD ON TO THE STRONG
DON'T CLOSE YOUR MIND
COMPLETELY
JUST CLEAR IT
THEN THE REASONS
WHY WILL BE CLEARED
--------------------------------------
Emotions through words hang heavy in the air
Your hands, through your spirit, touch my
innermost me
You find my secrets and my
fears
You touch my sex and my pleasures
Your lips, through your soul,
learn the contours of my skin and you recite them daily.
You make me want ecstasy
You make me taste it, and make me
want more
Your words taste me and you like how it sounds
Tasting the sweet music of you and I
The Song Of Heavy Air...
-------------------------------------
Purple eyes rounding near,
you take not much to fear,
your hair-it looks like jangling snakes,
and fish rods tearing up your face,
your shirts and slack's they are ragged,
and your eyes-they are bagged,
but of course(as you know),
you are very poor living in snow.
-Raven?
------------------------------
Sweet taste I can remember
in not knowing
the taste of eating your outstretched
hands I have read you inside
and swayed the way you must sway
into your sleep but with two seperate bodies
and four hands, fingertips almost
touching I have found where you begin
and slowly traced your outline
at the base of your roots to understand
the music of you more than my own.
---------------------------------------
i see mirrors across your face
but i am blind and cannot hear
i have fallen far too deep
to glance outside, no longer near
and i miss the wind around me
when i had nothing here to cling
it was me to be and listen
To listen and just be
---------------------------------------------------------
It's my mistake, I admit.
But I don't want to give up on us, I don't want to quit.
What can I do, to make you see,
how much I'm sorry, and how much I love thee?
What can I do, to make a new start?
I love you too much to watch you part.
So many nights, I sit and cry.
I love you, and that I can't deny.
It's my mistake, I can not lie,
but now you're gone, and I slowly, die.
Dedicated to Mike P.
Truth?
A rose is a rose,
Though riddled with poisonous thorns
Or in the peak of its' perfumed glory.
Yet is Love still Love
When filled with senseless trials of loyalty
Or littered with heartbreak?
--------------------------------
To My Friend
When I'm with you,
I don't exist.
I hate how people never see me,
Never even think to look.
I try to make you all see,
But no matter what
I pretend to be,
Nothing works.
Especially the real me.
Don't you ever wonder
About the exact moment
You stole the sunlight
From my face?
Because now I'm in your shadow.
Dark, cold, alone.
--------------------------------
Lost
I don't know where to find it.
My friend used to give it to me all the time,
Now it seems to be gone, and I'm desperately searching for it
In all the nooks and crannies where we
Lay things that will be forgotten
However i think it was stolen from us.
Most people just don't misplace their smile.
---------------------------------
I FEEL I HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE
AND LET YOU GO TO FLY
I WANT YOU FOR ME
BUT IT MIGHT NOT BE MEANT TO BE
I TOOK YOU FOR GRANTED
ONLY TO FIND YOUR ALL I EVER WANTED
I REALIZED TOO LATE
HOW MUCH I CARED AND LOVED
NOW I'M ALL ALONE
LONGING FOR YOU
AND YOUR LOVE
-----------------------------------------
The Inferno of a Lost Soul
Just stopped by to ask if you were making it out O.K. As I walk through the battle field (my mind) I see the sun every day. And the smiles on the faces of the people who walk past. But i have seen no sign of light since the last time i saw your face. It seems like it rains every day, and there is hell where you are not
BOX
You always rattle the box
Drooling into your wide palm
The fingers slick and mysterious
Sweaty, tired dogs cry
"Blood and Tears to infinity!"
X is the particle, Y is the synonym
And all is safe under God's logic
Once there was a box
containing the whole world
in a box
Once upon a time
You always rattle the box
Courage
there is a seed in the
heart of everyone that
lies quietly in the bottom
of the soul.
it sleeps patiently, waiting
for the chance to grow
and survive against all
that will attempt to
choke it out.
it is not visible to everyone;
it is not even always known
that it is there.
but suddenly, someday, the
need will arise, a hole
will be torn in the soul, the
sun will shine through, and
courage will be born.
A secret is a thing you share
with someone special who will care
about the what you feel inside,
when there's a hurt you wanna hide
or else a secret thing might be
a joke, a game, or star you see
some starry night when just you two
stare from a window at the view.
Sometimes a secret is a song-
you sing a verse, i'll sing along.
You've got a secret now? that's great
you tell me your and i'll tell you mine.
and you never come after me
The pain of the darkness rent upon us when we therefore have no need
Heed of the dark calling within the hole that makes us cry, relentless
driving us to go on, must we, must we
release the bondage chain that keeps the slave,
freedom remains, freedom remains.
---------------------------------------------------------
Dear God
Why do things happen,
that cause so much pain?
Why cant you just keep things,
at a gentle rain?
Dear God
Why didn't you listen,
when i prayed?
Why didn't you listen of the trouble i made?
Dear God
Are you there?
I hear no call;
I've been listening but
i hear nothing at all.
Dear God
Why did it have to happen teh way it did?
Why did you take her
the way you did.
They...
Fear the truth
Fear the cold
Destroy the youth
Destroy the old.
Touch my eyes
Feel my breath
Live their lies
Live my death.
Hate the new
Forget the past
Deny the few
Punish the mass.
Who are they?
I know not.
None can say,
"They are those that life forgot."
I LOVE YOU
I think of you by day
I dream of you by night
If I went out with you again
Every-thing would feel so right
I didn't mean to hurt you
I wouldn't do it again
I love you all to much
I'm sorry for all the pain
I only hope you love me
As much as I love you
Cos you and I were meant to be
As one instead of TWO.
--------------------------------
I Stand Alone
I stand alone
I stand on my own
All by myself
On my own shelf
Reaching for the sky
No one else knows why
They think I'm strange
'Cuz' I'm out of their range
They don't understand that Im different because I want to be.
or sleep under chanting
we will consume
day
like honey
----------------------------
As the sun shines through my window pane
There's no one elses love that i would rather gain
As I sit on the bed and picture your face
I know there's no one else that can take your place
No matter what we go through, you'll always be mine
Even when the sun doesn't shine.
---------------------------------------------
RAZOR
Take this razor from my vein
Downward pressure that cuts so deep
The sharp pain that feels so sweet
Release the chaos in my head
The peace of blood so deep and red
i awaken in a calmer state
i choke back the tears, another foolish mistake
Left with only scars that i must hide
Disgrace blends with chaos which now fills my mind
Embrace:
Lightly caressing,
Oh so distressing,
My heart bestilled,
Dreams fulfilled,
A touch of soft skin,
Makes us feel akin,
A thought exites,
But touch ignites,
My feelings for you.
What do you do when the only one who understands you
doesn't at all
How lost can you get when the only map
is in the hands of the despised
Who can you turn to when the only one there
walks away
Where are you loved when the only place left
turns you into the streets
Candle Light
Deep within the darkest night
A candle casts an elegant light
It's flame flies up high from the wick
And dances down a wind lit stick
The fiery flame en captures me
It's infinite height unveiled to be
A shining solace naturally made
Of wax and wick colored in jade.
Silent Affairs
Silently, she sings a song of sweet September nights
Quietly, she sways among the limpid lilac lights
Wishful words among her thoughts yet hidden from all eyes
Wondering hearts no longer lost but buried in her lies.
For the infinite doors to the infinite wonders
I can only look so far,
for no direct path will satisfy the dream;
the fault of wonder is who we are.
---------------------------------------------------------
I wonder how many times
our eyes met and,silently, cried.
How many times your name
turned into a deep sigh
that wounded my lips when it died?
How many black shadows
froze the light of our hearts?
Were words poisoned arrows
sent cruelly by thy arch
or, in my dismay, I committed suicide?
I keep wondering, torturing my mind,
while death whispers me
her sweet, tender, lullaby.
*My Heaven*
When I look into your eyes I see heaven
When I kiss your lips I taste heaven
When I inhale your scent I smell heaven
When you hold me in your arms I'm in heaven
Truly Deeply you are my heaven
The eyes of this woman are burning with fire, The eyes of this woman show her
hearts desire. like the rose in her hand or the flowers in her hair, she is delicate and beautiful and very unique, which she is aware, but as nobody else
knows, that behind that flame there is a flower and whatever happens to her
you will still see it in the eyes of this woman.
A Horse I Never Really Met
By Danielle Jeppesen
There was a horse, I never really me. It's color was black, it's name was Coal. It's eye was wild he reared up high, the sky was dark, I ran back home.
-------------------------------------------------
So much I want to say...
how do I begin...where do I start?
Lost are my words of truth
hidden behind this huge lump in my throat
stuck between each nervous beat of my heart
beneath each gasp of air...
Moments with you so few and far between
everlasting milliseconds in my life
savoring your presence...basking in your laughter
hesitant to ruin the moment with understood speech...
Life can be so unrelenting.
---------------------------------------------
My heart and soul bleeds, for the chance to love you.
For without your love, I'm a withered flower.
You are the light in my soul, and the courage in my heart.
You are the one who gives hope.
My life will be given on to you.
she was a special part in all of our lives
she made us all smile when we were together
From blackened insides
---------------------------
In eternity, eternity is beheld
The thoughts of a lonely man
On a journey through his Soul
Seeking the Lord this cold
Winters night
Were screams of desperation
Are silent moans fading
In to tears and merciful sleep
Slumber bringing only more sorrow
A howl from the grave is but
The face of an Angel
My Dad
My dad is tough,
Big and buff!
he has the key
the key to my heart,
i have 1 part,
he has the other,
i love my dad!,
even when he's mad!
---------------------
Our good-byes have been spoken,
and now my heart is broken.
I need to start my life anew,
but I can't picture me without you.
No longer can I cry,
I still ask myself why.
Why did you throw our love away,
this question haunts me to this day.
I must go on and be free,
but my love for you will forever be.
